Marian Hinnant

Marian Hinnant was juror number four on the Alaskan senator, Ted Stevens corruption trial. 

Marian Hinnant told the judge she had to attend her father's funeral in California and that was the reason she skipped town and could not be contacted, forcing the judge to replace her hours before the jury found Stevens guilty.

Turns out the was a lie.  Hinnant wanted to attend the Breeders Cup, so she just told the judge the first thing that popped in to her head. Hinnant had to confess all to the judge on her return. 

The judge let her go after she gave a long-winded, incoherent speech about drugs and wiretaps in the horse industry in Kentucky.  The judge said, "I'm convinced you were not able to deliberate." regarding the corruption trial.

Hinnant's lawyer tried to get her to keep quiet, but after she left the courthouse she seemed unable to stop herself talking to reporters.

Marian Hinnant is lucky that she got off so lightly.  US judges do not take kindly to having their courtroom disrupted.
