What to do in a recession

That's what we all want to know, right? What should we be doing to help get our businesses through this recession (even if we're not, technically and according to the NBER, actually in one yet. Sure feels like one!). There's a fascinating idea over here from these internet marketing consultants .

As part of their weeikly set of business tipsthey point out that what you really should be doing is attempting to grow your business. Everyone else is going to be hunkering down and just trying to ride things out. Thus, as our Internet Marketing Consultant says, there's two things working in your favour. The first is that there'll be less competition for your message out there. If everyone else isadvertising less, promoting less, spending less on garnering brand and customers, your work will stand out more. You should get more bang for your buck.

Secondly, if everyone else is spending less then ad rates will be coming down: you will again get more bang for your buck. It's an extremely attractive story and one that I'm surprised to see coming from an internet marketing consulting company. For it's the sort of advice we might expect from a berand marketing consultancy, yes, but since when has there been a recession on the internet?

I mean surprise to see it in a good way, of course:  it means that they've been thinking out of the box and applying wisdom from other industries to this one. Well worth continuing to check out their weekly thoughts on how to grow your business.
