Perry Caravello
Perry Caravello is suing the star of Jackass, Johnny Knoxville, and others over the making of a film called Windy City Heat. This is all rather confusing, Caravello thought he was being tried out as the possible star of a movie and he was then asked to film a number of test scenes. All good so far.
However, Caravello's part seems to have been more as the dupe of the show.
Okay, so, I've told you all to watch Windy City Heat on the blog before. It's the amazingly hysterical prank movie in which several comedians band together to convince an idiot named Perry that he's starring in a new action movie. Of course, there is no movie; the whole thing's a set-up to humiliate this guy, Perry Caravello, who dreams of stardom despite being an unattractive, paunchy middle-aged guy with no discernable talent.
Windy City Heat is one of the funniest films of our present decade. I am not even kidding. A work of fiction could never tell such a ridiculous story - it's nearly impossible to believe that anyone could be this dumb. In fact, many people to whom I have shown the film have insisted to me that it must be fake. Perry falls for such obvious set-ups - bad Charlton Heston impersonators, Japanese investors named Hiroshima Nagasaki, an action movie script with obviously jokey dialogue and no action scenes directed by Bobcat freaking Goldthwait - that it almost has to be an act.
As a result of a particular scene, where Caravello is enticed into putting his penis into a mousetrap, he's now suing for $10.5 million.
Actor Perry Caravello filed a $10.5 million lawsuit against "Jackass" star Johnny Knoxville and others alleging that he was induced to place his penis in a mousetrap which eventually snapped causing serious injuries.
Lawsuits are everyday's bread and butter in Hollywood yet Pery Caravello's has an original twist. Caravello claims he was never paid $10 million for err... placing his penis in a mousetrap, a stunt that Caravello claims left him severely injured.
The suit, filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court against Knoxville and others, alleges fraud, negligence and unjust enrichment.
According to the lawsuit, Johnny Knoxville also promised to pay Caravello to promote the DVD release of the TV movie "Windy City Heat" if he agreed to place his penis in a mousetrap.
The suit says that Caravello was severely injured when the trap literally snapped on his ...err..manhood.
Caravello is seeking $10.5 million in damages. The defendants have not commented on the lawsuit.
Now, here's where it might get interesting. You see, if somone makes an offer and you then take them up on it, well, that's actually a contract. So it is actually possible that Knoxville does in fact owe Caravello that money, because he said he'd pay him he did the penis in the mousetrap bit and Perry went ahead and did it.
The other possibility of course is that the lawsuit itself is all a publicity stunt, a piece of viral marketing to get me posting and you watching the extract from the movie above. If so, that part of it has worked, although I'll admit that having seen the extract I definitely won't be bothering to see the movie.
