Blog and We'll Evict You!

So here is an interesting little tale. Slightly confusing but the gist of it seems to be that this gentleman has been blogging about North Glasgow Housing Association. He doesn't like them very much.

Reading the blog he does seem to be a little emphatic in his views but then since when has that been a concern of the law?

Since now actually, as the NGHA has commenced eviction proceedings against said gentleman, John Quinn. I'm told that the claim is that his blogging is actually anti-social behaviour.

What makes it worse is that a Scottish court seems to have issued an interdict, meaning that no one within that jurisdiction is allowed to mention or write about it.

Interesting don't you think? Losing your tenancy because you blog and not being able to tell anyone about it?

Wow this is something for Liberty to get into...will they? I rather doubt it because this man is white and working class.

The furious tone of the blog is counter-productive; I had little confidence that the full story was being told. But that is not the point. To try and silence him by the law looks like an abuse of NGHA's powers.

Is it standard procedure in Scotland for the courts to slap on these secrecy orders? I had got the impression in another context that it was far more common to do this in Scotland than down South.
