Does that mean a shift to the left? Only if [...] we have no new attempt to bring private capital and market mechanisms into core state services.
What is "left" about this? A concern for egalitarianism, yes, I can see that as an attribute of "the left". A desire to redistribute wealth, a concern over outcomes more than opportunities, fine, all I can understand. I might not agree but I do identify them with being leftish.
But what’s "left" about Statism? What’s "right" about it even?
Myself I think it’s an absurd concentration on the methods rather than the ends. As Deng said, who cares what colour the cat is as long as it catches mice?
