Dennis MacShane: Confused.

Err:

Mr MacShane called for new parliamentary committees to oversee European legislation and to travel to the EU capitals to influence decisions before they were made.

Slightly contradictory don’t you think? If decisions are made in other European capitals then what use new parliamentary committees? All they can do is rubber stamp the decisions already taken.

By EU capitals surely he means Brussels and Strasbourg?

And I don't think it's pointless. Unless you are an absolute dictator then having influence on decisions is what normally one hopes to have.
