Sad and Out of Touch.
I am absolutely delighted to be able to point out quite how sad and out of touch I am. The top ten best selling album perpetrators (via No Geek is an Island) in the UK over the past five years:
1. Robbie Williams
2. Coldplay
3. Dido
4. Eminem
5. Westlife
6. Norah Jones
7. Blue
8. Anastacia
9. Stereophonics
10. Oasis
It heartens me to be able to say that I own not a single album from any of them. Out of touch and proud of it.
No, I wasn’t at any of the gigs either.

I haven't even heard of several of them.
Tim adds: Oneupmanship eh? Always this competetive oneupmanship!

I'm not sure the best-selling albums are a good indicator of being 'out of touch'. I think people who owned all of them could be accused of that in more truthfulness.

I can't believe it either!
Unfortunately I have heard of all of them, and heard all of them - although not listened. Gym membership forces you to hear this crap. But now I have an i-pod so thankfully I can listen to Country and Western instead of this tosh.

You should get in touch with Nora Jones though. Her first album is great.

The wonder of the cheap CD is that, when one is not in the mood for Bach-to-Beethoven, one can listen to Jelly, Johnny Dodds, the NORKS, Fats, Pee Wee, T, Satch, Bix, Miss Bessie etc. Bloody wonderful. Why bother with dumbcrapprolemusik?

Congratulations, nor do I.
Still, that's the music market for you - it preys on the young and ignorant.

There's some great stores that do quality music for a fiver a CD. Much cheaper and better quality than i-tunes. Fopp is one of the best.
