Brian Appleyard.
Excuse me, but could whoever it is who knows which medicines Brian Appleyard should be but has not been taking please make contact with his carers? This is lunacy. Grade A stupidity. One sample:
Optimists believe that the market — the law of
supply and demand — will solve the problem. As oil becomes more
expensive, we'll shift to some other energy source. But do high prices
really cut demand? Since early 1999, oil prices have risen by about
350%. Meanwhile, demand growth in 2004 was the highest in 25 years.
Uh, short term inelasticity perhaps, with long term elasticity? Or perhaps the demand rise came from the previously low prices? Or have you looked at the falling sales for SUVs in America now that gas is at $3.00 a gallon? It’s not "optimists" who believe that markets solve these things it’s the specialists, the economists. You know, the people who study these things.
Sheesh, can’t we get him to join the Grauniad and hang out with Moonbat?

Of course the market will solve it. In the meantime the government is not helping in the ways it so patently should be. I think the government's green credentials must be questioned more seriously - their inconsistent approach to providing alternatives suggests a political rather than environmental ideology at work.
Or maybe they're all just as stupid as Brian Appleyard?

Appleyard is a lunatic. He believes in space aliens, time travel and the Welsh.

Tim,
First rule of journalism - if you are going to trash somebody, make sure you spell their name correctly,
