Moonbat A La Carte.
Georges Monbiot strikes again!
Consider, for example,
the claims for hydrogen fuel cells. Their proponents believe that this
country's vehicles could all one day be run on hydrogen produced by
electricity from wind power. I am not sure if they have any idea what
this involves. I haven't been able to find figures for the UK, but a
rough estimate for the US suggests that the same transformation would
require a doubling of the capacity of the national grid. If the ratio
were the same here, that would mean a 600-fold increase in wind
generation, just to keep our wheels turning.
This is why exactly nobody thinks that we should generate hydrogen from wind to power cars. People might be recommending making hydrogen from natural gas, people might propose from nuclear, from solar (lots of good work going on there) but people are not proposing using wind to make hydrogen. Not anyone rational, anyway.
In other words, there is
no sustainable way of meeting current projections for energy demand.
The only strategy in any way compatible with environmentalism is one
led by a vast reduction in total use.
Yup, George wants us all to go back to being medieval peasants. Good one.
And this is complete bollocks:
Onshore wind turbines are currently the cheapest means of producing new power without fossil fuels,
A report out yesterday showed quite how wrong he is. Yes, I have a copy, but cannot cut and paste or point you to it online. Subsidizing wind will cost 12 billion, subsidizing the same amount of nuclear power would cost 3 billion, and that’s before we look at pebble bed reactors and the like. Sorry George, you’re wrong.

» Kyoto: Up With Environmentalists from EU Rota
In the never-ending march of the environmental-fascists comes news that 6,000 Spanish fishermen (and women) are under threat of being made redundant. Overfishing the Spanish coast? No. Unexpected mass beaching of tuna? Nope. An outbreak of leaky boat... [Read More]

Wind powered travel?
Isn't that called sailing?

So, let me get this straight.
Even with a low impact, zero emission, cheap, reliable and safe form of energy that nuclear power can undoubtedly become, George is still not happy with that, how "sustainable" is he happy with, besides one that involves tearing up large portions of the landscape.
My advice for George, stop using hospitals and medicines to get better, use rainwater instead of tapwater, turn off the TV, fridge, PC, etc, dont use the oven or central heating and when people turn up at the door to rob you, on no account call for the police, and do all this for your children and partner too.
Get yourself an idea what a miserable low energy life you want to lead.

Also, George hasn't been keeping up with the latest developments in hydrogen fuel cells.
