The Observer Blog...a Little Way to Go Yet.

Actually, this isn’t about the Observer’s Blog so much as it is about The Observer. Stephen Pritchard does a worthy piece in the comment section about the launch of the new blog, about how they are still bound by the libel laws, what they’re actually trying to achieve....  as I say, all very worthy. He does seem to miss (or perhaps it’s the online editors?) one of the most basic points...linking.

Yup. Major comment piece giving a puff to an online project by the same media outlet, singing the praises of the new blog, and he doesn’t link to the new blog. Someone should have a word I think.

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference The Observer Blog...a Little Way to Go Yet.:

Comments

There's a link at the bottom of the piece.

The reason for lack of links in the text is that the Observer's content management system (both in electronic and procedural terms) is based around the paper version, and therefore doesn't support web-only features like links within body text. I'm not sure this is a major failing of the Observer...

Tim adds: There is now but there wasn’t when I wrote the post...and the link doesn’t go to the blog but to a 404 not found page. I would also note the comment from Rafael to me in the blog’s comments:
"re: link - yes, there should indeed. there's a link to the paper up in the top right hand corner of this page, but the lack of a link to the blog from Stephen's article ... that was just plain stupid. Oops."
