TCS Piece Up

A piece up at Techcentralstation. You may not realise this but all blog posts are subject to the laws of the countries in which they are read, not the country you write them in. Scary thought, that we are subject to the defamation laws of the 190 different jurisdictions that have them.

Then of course there is the FEC is you happen to mention US politics. As I noted last week my original assumption that as a foriegner I could tell them to go whistle has taken rather a jolt

If I were to opine that Toni Blair is a loathsome wee twat, would that potentially be libel or merely vulgar abuse?

Tim adds: Abuse. Essentially, the statement "In my opinion Tony Blair is a wee twat" is not libel, as it is an expression of opinion. "Tony Blair is" could be, as it is a purported statement of fact.

190 jurisdictions: that's a thought. And it presumably doesn't distinguish e.g. Scotland/England, Quebec/Rest of Cananda, etc.
Any way out if I use a dying language, like Gaelic or French?
