Dean as Democratic Party Chairman.

David Brooks has a nice line on Dean’s selection as Democratic Party Chairman:

No question that republicans and mainstream democrats are mystified by the Dean selection. Is Brooks saying that the democrats believe Dean is the only prominent figure in their party who has figured out how to raise cash, and therefore he must become the DNC chair? Howard Dean has become the poster boy for all that is laughable about the dems - even my liberal wife chuckles when she sees him on TV. Now their kingmakers are on the verge of putting him in charge of the whole show. Hey, I'll take winning over the cash any day, but maybe the democratic leadership has something else in mind.
