So what did you do on your holidays?
Or perhaps, at this time of year, what will you be doing on your holidays? If I might make a little suggestion, don't try to do what a friend of mine did not too long ago. Off he went to LA to see the big city: no harm in that, to be sure. He went off to see the cricket....
Now, yes, I know, that's not what you immediately think of when you think of Los Angeles but there's been a long standing cricket league there. Started with all those English actos that went over to Hollywood in fact. There's even ,would you believe it, a team in Compton.
OK, so he's off there to play in this little cricket league. While he's there he's talking to some people about the great american summer sport, baseball. He likes to wind people up does my friend and he pretends to be a bit confused about hos the game is played. So he makes someone explain the rules to him and as they do he pretends to see the light.
Ah, yes, we play that game too: it's just that we call it Rounders. Oh, and we give up playing it when we're 11 and start to play cricket instead. It's a child's game, didn't you know?
Now he was just trying to wind people up but while actually in the Angle's stadium possibly wasn't the place to do that. The subsequent near riot had him in need of a Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney.
The lesson being that foreigners have ways that are foreign....what might be a little bit of leg pulling at home can be taken as a gross insult elsewhere. So mind how you go on your holidays, eh?

Female Viagra
I do have to admit that I don't really understand one of the comments in this newspaper article. No, I really don't quite get it. For it seems to assume that only men enjoy the existence of Viagra itself: which seems a very strange thing to be thinking:
Currently, the sexual drugs available in the market are all for the benefit of men, but women seeking an enhancement of their sex lives can now begin to see some hope.
After reviving the sex life of millions of men for years, the little blue pill will now help stimulate sexual arousal in women.
Do you see what I mean?
Yes, of course, I agree, Viagra stimulates the sexual response in men, this is most certainly true. But that's not quite the same thing as saying that only men enjoy the stimulation of that response....or that engendering that response is purely for the benefit of men.
Quite the opposite in fact I would have thought. Yes, yes, of course I realise that female sexuality is a more complex thing than male but the whole point of Viagra is that it makes it possible to actually have sex: something which, if the stories are to be believed, women enjoy just as much as men do.
That this new pill might do something else for women might well be true: but the idea that the original little blue pill only benefits men seems most odd indeed.

Great webhosting offer
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Nexx Online. All opinions are 100% mine.
If you're looking to get yourself online....whether it's for a blog, a website or perhaps you want to try your hand at running a business....there's a great little offer to make it cheap and simple for you to do so out there.
NEXX Web Hosting have just upgraded their server centre and to kick off the new technology they're offering a very decent indeed introductory package. For just $10 (and this is $10 for the full year, not a per month fee) you get unlimited web hosting for that year. That's not all, you also get a free .com domain name: that alone is worth more than the $10 you're paying.
Of course, it's not worth all that much if you cannot use the site but they've got some great tools there as well. For example, the support all the usual open source programs, Wordpress, Joomla and so on: even better, you can install them with just one click from their custom interface.
That's not all: unlimited bandwidth, unlimited email and even $50 worth of both Google Adwords credits and Facebook ad credits. So you can do some basic marketing of your new site as well.
As an introductory offer this looks great: I certainly don't know of one better out there. If you want to get on the web, definitely worth checking out.

Air India crash in Mangalore
Another horrendous air crash following the one in Libya last week. This time it's an Air India crash, not a Libyan one.
A Boeing 737, operated by Air India, crashed after trying to land at Mangalore airpost in SE India. It was on a flight from Dubai.
Initial reports are that there were some 170 people on board but acurate numbers are not yet known. There were also reports that some 6 or 7 survivors had been pulled from the wreckage.
The Air India crash itself seems to have come from the fact that Mangalore is a "table top" runway. If you miss of overshoot the runway then there is a cliff at the end of it and the plane fell over this, bursting into flames as it did so.
The Air India plane crashed and burst into flames as it was landing in the city of Mangalore.
The plane, which took off from Dubai at 0100 local time, was reported to have 156 passengers and six crew on board but earlier reports said the plane was carrying 169.
Locals were first to the wreckage and were believed to have rescued six survivors, while other reports said seven people were alive.
Flying is still safer than driving, although there are days and weeks when it sure doesn't feel like it.

Gold bugs and sensible investing in gold
Well, we've all seen what's been happening to gold prices over the past few months. As the european currency looks as if it's going to fall to pieces and inflation raises its ugle head again, gold has been soaring up in value again. It always does in times of trouble of course.
But what can we as individuals do about this? How can we protect our own finances agains the pernicious effects of such happenings upon the international markets? Well, the logical answer to that is bullion, gold bullion. Traditionally, gold has held its value in times of inflation and while the past isn't a perfect guide to hte future that's generally the way to bet.
If you buy bullion, buy gold bullion that is, you end up owning a physical asset which as, as history reminds us, kept its value vastly better than the promises of politicians or the paper money that depends upon those promises.
It's even possible to set up a gold IRA these days, so you can also get some tax benefits out of investing in something safe.
