Investing in gold

In these troubled times we're all trying to think of what we can invest in. Sure, GM bonds were considered safe in years gone by, as were Chrylser bonds. That didn't work out all that well in the long term now did it?

So what might we do that could be better? Well, the traditional repository of value has always been gold. If you buy gold at least you've something which governments cannot debauch, this is true. It's also true that you can buy gold coins. This raises the possibilities, for if you buy the right coins they can rise faster than the gold price itself.

Or if that's too much, the risk of having to buy gold coins, it's still possible to buy gold bullion. there's even a way of doing a gold IRA transfer.

The thing is, with our money in the control of the politicians, having something whose value is not determined by politicians can be very valuable.

At least, that's the way it has played out over the past century or so.

Susan Boyle meltdown

Susan Boyle's meltdown...well, if you'd spent decades trying to get somewhere in talent contests (as Susan Boyle has) and then you got somewhere, then some hotel bloke didn't acknowledge that you had in fact got somewhere....well, wouldn't you, like Susan Boyle, do into meltdown?

Susan Boyle has certainly become a media sensation ever since her first appearance on Britain’s Got Talent. It all began with her amazing voice that left you in awe, then she received a make over that was the talk of the town, and now she flipped out at a hotel lobby and had a complete and utter meltdown. The frumpy looking singer went on a cursing tantrum in the middle of the Wembley Plaza Hotel lobby in North London, cursing up a storm for hundreds of hotel guests to witness. Police arrived on the scene and approached the boiled Susan Boyle, at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, after two strangers set out to “wind her up”, according to Fox News.

Well, if we're honest, it's an OK voice, not a stunner. There are hundreds out there with voices that good.

Reports are coming in that the YouTube sensation had a meltdown earlier this week at her London hotel because of some strangers deciding to "wind her up." Though no one is sure what the two strangers said to Susan, EVERYONE heard what Susan had to say back, as she began to yell and curse at her two antagonizers.

In a rage, the Scottish singer was heard screaming: "How fucking dare you! You can't fucking talk to me like that."

Ah, yes, that is indeed something of a meltdown by Susan Boyle. Do we think that she's, umm, becoming famous? A star?

Online coupons

OK, so we all know how to save money when we go shopping, right? Get the newspaper, cut the coupons out and then make sure that we use the coupons when we get to the register. Pretty simple, we've all been doing it for years and we know that we save a lot of money that way.

However, how do we do this at online stores? No newspaper is carrying the coupons, so where do we go? Here's a handy hint, try this online coupons website. You can simply get the coupon code from them and then when you go to the online register of the store you're buying from enter the code and get your discount. Really, it couldn't be simpler: and you don't have to wander around the supermarket with hundreds of little pieces of paper either!

As an example of the sorts of things you can find have a look at these BlueNile.com discount coupon codes that are there. Or have a look at these Dell coupons. At the moment that I'm writing there's between $400 and $500 off selected laptop models. That's a pretty good saving for just looking at a coupon site, right?

My suggestion is that whenever you're thinking of buying something online that you check out the site first, to see if you can get some money off what you've already decided to buy. You might also want to simply browse and see if the money off might tempt you!

Kari Byron pregnant

It appears that Kari Byron is pregnant. Kari Byron you will remember is the young lady who went from posing in Playboy (and FHM) to working on the Mythbusters TV show.

Is Kari Byron of Mythbusters pregnant? There's a rumor going on about Kari Byron. She recently was featured on Pregnancy 360. The former Kary Byron Pla-y-boy hottie is indeed pregnant.. And I also found these photos of her with that bulging tummy of a pregnant woman. TVshark.com also confirms Kari Byron's pregnancy.

Yes, Kari Byron is indeed pregnant, it has indeed been confirmed.

Mythbusters' Kari Byron is pregnant with her first child by husband Paul Urich. The 34-year-old made a list of pregnancy changes that she has noticed:

Do click through to read the very funny list of changes she has noted in herself since she became pregnant. For example, "when Grant says run all I can do is waddle".

Of course, now that Kari Byron is pregnant she's continuing to bust myths, this time about what pregnant women do indeed crave or don't:

Kari Byron is pregnant and very happy about it. She announced her pregnancy in February 2009 and since then she continued working busting Myths. And right about now, she is actually testing Pregnancy Myths, whether pregnant women crave for pickles and ice-cream.

The full list of the debunking is here. But not all of the myths are busted, pregnant women can end up doing slightly odd things:

I don’t know why, but…I’ve been cleaning parts of my house that have never been cleaned before. The other day I was under the sink scrubbing all that weird gooey-ness. It had to be spotlessly clean, although I’m hoping the baby won’t be spending too much time under the sink!

Debt settlement services

Yes, times are hard and yes, there are people just like you and me who get into trouble with their debts. For mild cases there are a few obvious things that can be done. Cutting back on other spending in order to bring down debt for example. Or paying off the high interest debt first so as to free up money to settle others. But this only works in the mild cases. Many people are getting truly out of their depth and this is when it becomes sensible (if not essential!) to use a debt settlement services company.

However, in this fast growing industry there are a few things that you will want to make sure of. For a start, you don't want to use a company that puts you into a plan longer than 48 months. You'll also want to make sure that they are registered with the Better Business Bureau and The Association of Settlement Companies TASC).

As a helpful hint you can click through that link there to Fast Track Debt Relief, a company which is indeed so double registered. But what is the point of doing so? Well, an expert in debt settlement can help you to cut your total bill. Quite simply, the companies which have lent you money are both reasonable and sensible. They know it's better to get some of the money back than none of it. But they won't negotiate directly with you, they want to have an expert company in the middle organising things. Makes life so much easier for them.

The end result of using such a company can be a cut in what you owe of 40-60%. If you're finding yourself drowning in debt it might well be the thing that will save you.

Nemenhah Band

When I originally saw this about the Nemenhah Band I thought it was something to do with competition for the Jonas Brothers market. Now that I've actually seen more about it, it;s worse than that. And it's so much worse than that that it stinks. The Nemenhah Band are scam artists, at least to the extent that the Nemenhah band are not simply sorely deluded lunatics, and it looks like a young boy is going to die as a result.

“The Nemenhah Band and Native American Traditional Organization (Oklevueha Native American Church of Sanpete) was established as an Indigenous Group and People by Self Determination through the original writing and ratification of the Band Constitution in 2003 by the General Council of Nemenhah Mothers. Phillip ‘Cloudpiler’ Landis, NAP, ND, was elected to the position of Principle Medicine Chief and has been re-elected every year since then by the unanimous vote of the yearly Great Council of the Nemenhah. At the same time, the Band was established as an Independent Branch of the Oklevueha Native American Church of Utah, and later of the Oklevueha/Sioux Nation Allied Native American Church, under the direction of Chief Richard ‘He Who Has The Foundation’ Swallow, Head of the Eagle Clan of the Lakota and the Rosebud Native American Church.”

Now, OK, I admit it, I'm biased. That sounds like a bunch of kooks to me but in a free society everybody is allowed to follow their own path to kookiness.

The Internet is a funny thing. Perhaps Colleen Hauser, the mother of 13-year-old Danny, who has Hodgkin's lymphoma, also looked a little deeper on the Web and discarded critical opinions about the group, the Nemenhah Band, but I doubt it.

Too bad, because Danny's life may depend on it.

If she had, she would have found case files in which Nemenhah's leader, Phillip (Cloudpiler) Landis, who submitted testimony in the case, had been convicted of fraud in two states. Or that another member of the band, James Mooney, won a case that allows him to claim religious exemption from law and sell drugs -- peyote.

Hmm....now these are the people I would want to be determining the medical treatment of my cancer stricken son. Not. But that's what the Nemenhah band are in fact doing:

In January, Daniel was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma -- a highly curable form of cancer. Doctors recommended six rounds of chemotherapy, but Daniel and his parents stopped after one round. Doctors later notified authorities after becoming concerned about Daniel's health.

The family says chemotherapy is against their religious beliefs. Although Catholic, the family is also members of the Native American religious organization called the Nemenhah Band.

The family says they prefer alternative medicine -- including a special diet of whole, organic foods, herbs and vitamins.

Yup, kiddie's gonna die for the nutty beliefs of these fruit loops. The Nemenhah Band is almost as good as Tom Cruise and his stupidity about psychiatry. Poorer, but if they can suck in a few more cancer sufferers, perhaps not for all that much longer.

The family of Daniel Hauser belong to a religious sect called the Nemenhah Band, a group based in Missouri that strongly believe in natural healing methods. Doctors from the Children's Hospital, the Mayo Clinic and the University of Minnesota all gave testimony stating that Daniel would respond well to chemotherapy and would likely not survive another five years without it.

The judge commended the family's belief in natural healing and in the Nemenhah Band as "genuine and strong".

The judge cited several Minnesota statutes that require parents to provide "necessary medical care" to their children, and that "complementary and alternative health care" is not enough.

There is a real and important issue here, one that goes well above whether this particular teen lives or dies.

Daniel Hauser is part of a religious sect called the Nemenhah Band. He has been in the news lately, as his religion strongly believes in natural healing methods. A judge ruled today that Hauser must seek medical treatment for his cancer. Read more about this story here.

Daniel is 13. He is not competent. He is not competent to decide to drink beer, to get married, to join the Army, to vote.....he is a child and thus not competent. The question is, who is competent? Normally we  would say his parents, but when they end up following the nuttiness of groups like the Nemenhah
Band we don't. We don't allow Christian Scientists to ban blood transfusions for their children, we don't allow the anti-vaccine nutballs to not vaccinate their children yet still send them to public school.

Nope, sorry, Daniel gets the chemo and then if he feels violated then when he's 18 he can make his own decisions. But while he's still a minor then others must take care of him.

Getting that loan

So many of the purchases in this modern world depends upon our being able to get credit.  And that in turn depends upon a number of factors. For example, what's your credit rating looking like? Wat's the credit rating agencies got on you? Or, not got on you, which is often worse. Having no credit can be worse, as I know to my cost, than having bad credit.

Think of all of the things that you do need credit for: sure, buying a house, but you also need it to rent one as the landlord is going to check that to make sure the rent is going to get paid. Or perhaps we'd do better talking about car loans ? No one carries around $20,000 or more to purchase a new car now, do they, meaning that an auto loan is a necessity. Sure, a necessity, but that doesn't make it easy to find out which is the best one. There are so many different variations at any one time. The dealer might be offering finance, or the manufacturer, or maybe the local bank wants in on the market. Some types of finance will only be open to those with very good credit: those with bad credit might need to go to a specialist lender to get what they want at a decent price.

Fortunately, even in such a confusing marketplace, there are those who can and will guide you through the options. Click through either of those links to see what I mean: a simple guide to the different car and auto loans out there and where you might find the best deal for your situation.

Jordan sex tape

It looks like there might be a Jordan sex tape out there. Not sure whether this is something we should fear or something we should look forward to: come to that, is there any part of Jordan that we would see in a sex tape that we haven't already seen?

Hollywood socialite Jordan, who has been in the news for her separation from husband Peter Andre, is having sleepless nights for one more

reason, as she fears the leak of her stable sex tape.

According to pals, Jordan was actually involved in an act with husband Peter Andre in a stable, and she fears that the rumoured tape might leak, with an unknown horse rider claiming to be in its possession.

“The funniest place we have had sex would probably be in a stable. The horse wasn’t there though,” the Sun quoted Peter as telling earlier.

It's a little strange for the Jordan sex tape to feature her own husband of course: that's not the way these things are normally done.

Angry glamour girl Kate Price fears a sizzling stables sex tape from her past will be sold to the highest bidder.

The love-split model believes horsey-set insiders, who have never accepted her, could stitch her up.

The Daily Star has already been contacted by two people who know the 30-year-old model well.

One, a horse rider, boasted he was in possession of a “very rude” tape and offered saucy kiss and tell revelations.

Seriously, who wants to watch a tape of married people? People married to each other, at least?

I thought he was resigned to being her whipping boy until the sweet release of death.

Letting Pete go is the biggest mistake that Jordan's ever made - and bear in mind, I'm talking about someone whose sex tape co-star was literally Dane Bowers.

What is amusing is that this news is popping up all over the wrold. Like here:

All most amusing, no?

Getting your tactical gear

As we know the internet means that we can get all sorts of things much cheaper than from the traditional bricks and mortar stores. For the retailer can have just the one stock of goods, rather than having to fill up (and pay rental on!) hundreds of stores around the country.

This is of course a great advantage when you're looking for something like tactical gear. There are so many variations of all the different things you might want that an online retailer os obviously going to be able to offer a better selection and a better deal. For example, on 5.11 Pants....you're not likely to find better than that anywhere.

Katie Price sex tape

It looks like there might be a Katie Price sex tape out there! Katie Price has been, as we all know, trying to move away from her former persona of Jordan and rebrand as Katie, leaving those glamour modelling days behind her. Ooops!

Letting Pete go is the biggest mistake that

Jordan

’s ever made – and bear in mind, I’m talking about someone whose sex tape co-star was literally Dane Bowers.

Yes, Pete’s a cheesy doofus, but once you’ve watched him with those kids – especially Harvey, who requires the most care, and isn’t biologically his – it’s impossible to dislike him.

Ah, no, that's all about Peter's tape. This is the right one:

Kate's silence hasn't stopped rumours raging, though. Reports suggest she's been sending Peter text messages promising to be like a "wild animal in bed", but he refuses to respond. The Daily Star reports that a man claims to have a sex tape of Kate in horse stables, and has offered kiss and tell revelations.

This is a wonderful but very cruel comment on it:

Or starring in a straight-to-tissues sex tape?

In “JORDAN’S SEX TAPE TORMENT Star readers learn that “Angry glamour girl Kate Price fears a sizzling stables sex tape from her past will be sold to the highest bidder”.

Here’s hoping her fears are for nought and the lowest bidder gets their sticky hands on the read hot footage:

The love-split model believes horsey-set insiders, who have never accepted her, could stitch her up… One, a horse rider, boasted he was in possession of a “very rude” tape and offered saucy kiss and tell revelations.

A rude tape of topless model Jordan?

Now pals fear she may be about to suffer the same humiliation as stars like Britney Spears, 27 – a leaked sex tape. Any X-rated footage made public could be damaging. Kate, 30, is a mum to three young children and has worked hard to leave her Jordan persona behind.

Readers can see just how hard Katie has worked on the Sun’s cover, where Katie sucks in her waist to make her baby Jordans spear still larger.
