That necessary retraining

There's two things that mean that you might want to think about going back to school and upgrading that education.

The first is simplythat we continue to move into a knowledge economy: it's not the muscles you've got that make money, it's what you know that does. This means that we all need to be continually sharpening our skills.

The second is that as we all know we're in a recession at the moment. That means two more reasons why now is a good time. Firstly, there are going to be many pay raises out there for the next couple of years. So you'll lose less by studying now. The second is that this might all take some time: and it'll be those with hte higher qualifications that get to keep their jobs.

There's alçso one more thing which might make you want to consider an online degree. About a year back the rules were changed about student loans. It used to be that you could only get Federal loans if you want to a college that had at least 50% of their students on campus. Now that's no longer necessary, you can attend a pure online college and still get a loan.

As to what you might want to study, well, how about engineering? The next few years are going to see the start of the complete re-engineering of America's energy system as we all work together over climate change. The pay is very good and with so much more money flowing into the field it's only going to get better.

So why not upgrade your skills to take advantage of the new opportunities?
