Laser Surgery
There are some things out there that strike me as very odd indeed and one of these is laser vaginal reconstructive surgery . Just because it's possible to do cosmetic or reconstructive surgery doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea to do so. However, my mind was rather changed by a debate I've seen in the UK newspapers. Yes, there are people who are unhappy with certain aspects of their body shape, there are women "recreating" their virginity as a present to their husbands or lovers. These strike me as slightly odd: but then what other people do with their own bodies is really no business of mine.
However, one thing I've seen them discussing over in Britain is whether the NHS (the government health program) should be paying for this hymen reconstruction for young Muslim women (well, from certain Muslim backgrounds perhaps). There are those cultures where if a woman is not a virgin on her wedding night then she will be killed: by her own family. It seems to me therefore that the availability of this sort of surgery is a great idea: it can save lives.
