Interesting Blogs

Jane Shilling:

Somewhere out there in cyberspace there must exist that rarity, an interesting blog. I simply haven’t found it yet.

Might want to think just a little about that. One bloke's blog is so interesting that your editor has hired the writer to compete with you on those very pages.

Anyway, this provides the opportunity for me to ask all of you a question. Which blogs should I be adding to my reader? You've got a pretty good idea of the ones already there from what I link to from time to time. Who am I missing?

Chris Dillow is a professional journalist and economist as well as a blogger. Not really a fair example. Someone else who is paid to write for the Times would be a better example.

Tim adds: Well, yes, but she did say interesting so Ollie and Chomsky is out really.

Sippican Cottage - an unique and rich flavour among one-posting-per-day blogs.

He lives on Cape Cod and makes fine furniture; covers history, family life, popular msuic, social observation; but perhaps writes best about 'work' (which is a topic I don't know much about...).

But - most important - he writes *beautifully*.

Ooh, pick me. It's not as if I've only got two posts on my blog that I totally started like, three days ago.

Are you adding blogs to your sidebar blogroll, too?

Tim adds: The whole blog will be moving soon so no, not yet.

Immodesty prevents me from being able to resist putting my own name forward.

Perhaps I should be a politician too...

Tim adds: You're in my reader already.

I have it on very good authority that Little Frigging In The Wold is coming back next week after a few months off:

Here's one I visit every day.

Dr. Pournelle, science fiction author and who wrote for the print version of Byte Magazine for many years, has a blog is the most interesting one I've found.

Other's have described it as much like a dinner or cocktail party; if you don't find one conversation (thread) interesting just move on to another. The topic variety is large, always informative and civil.

Enjoy.
