Al Gore III

Of course, I fully support Al Gore III's right to ingest absolutely whatever it is that he wishes:

The son of Al Gore, the former vice president and prominent environmental campaigner, was yesterday arrested for possession of drugs after being pulled over by police for speeding.

Al Gore III, 24, was stopped as he was driving a blue Toyota Prius, a hybrid car, along a freeway near San Diego, southern California, about 100 mile per hour.

Sheriff's deputies who stopped him said they smelled marijuana in the car and recovered less than an ounce of the drug. The officers also found the prescription drugs Xanax, Valium, both tranquillisers, the pain killer Vicodin and Adderall, a drug for attention deficit disorder.

Jim Amormino, a Sheriff's Department spokesman, said Gore did not have a prescription for any of the drugs found.

That particular cocktail would certainly offer more than a mild buzz, but as it is indeed his body it is his right to ingest as and what he wishes. The driving while doing so (and of course we don't know whether he was or not) is the problem, for that's imposing risks on others.

But at least he was being green while doing so: note the driving of a Prius. Although, to be honest, I didn't know you could get them up to those sorts of speeds: was it downhill with the wind behind him?

A Prius can go 100 miles per hour?

Certainly not in any remotely "sustainable" manner...

Let's wait 'til all the facts are in before commenting, Murtha.

Maybe the Gores can ask Jeb Bush about an addictive child, or even George W. (DUI)... you should have compassion for this kind of thing, it's out of bounds

political dynasties tend to behave this way... I bet Chelsea Clinton's kids are gonna be pretty messed up too.

Yeah, it's sad ... reminds me of Jeb Bush's daughter and her multiple arrests/sentencings for possession of illegal drugs. Or of Rush Limbaugh and his drug woes, for that matter . . .
