Paul Watson on the Future of the Planet

Paul Watson, the founder of Sea Shepherd, has a ringing piece insisting that we need to destroy the modern interconnected world, reduce population to 1 billion and live in small towns of no more than 20,000 people, otherwise the species is doomed.

Precisely how to reduce the population?

We need an economic system that provides all people with educational, medical, security, and support systems without mass production and vast utilization of resources. This will only work within the context of a much smaller global population.

Who should have children? Those who are responsible and completely dedicated to the responsibility which is actually a very small percentage of humans. Being a parent should be a career. Whereas some people are engineers, musicians, or lawyers, others with the desire and the skills can be fathers and mothers. Schools can be eliminated if the professional parent is also the educator of the child.

Interesting idea really, only those who dedicate themselves entirely to the raising of children should have them.

Paul is married to Allison Lance Watson. He has one child from his first wife Starlet Lum, founding director of Greenpeace Quebec, Earthforce, Project Wolf and Sea Shepherd.

Amazing how there always seem to be get out clauses for those making these suggestions, isn't it?

How does a dual professional family meet those new proclaimed standards?

Because they're both educating their child to be a political commissar in the Khmer Rouge?

"Who should have children? Those who are responsible and completely dedicated to the responsibility..."

And who decides who these responsible people are?

Telling the great unwashed, ie everyone who is not one of the environmental elite, they can't have children might just be the spark that finally gets people to stand up and fight.

How does using eco-fascists as a fuel compare to other alternatives? Only thing is, hopefully it is a non-renewable. The world would be a much nicer place without these sanctimonious gits casting a pall of gloom over every wonderful achievement of humankind. People who bet against the ingenuity of humans will always lose.

Of course 'some people are more equal than others'.

Aaah ... hypocrisy, I love it.

Not to worry.

If we don't reduce our population, and adopt sustainable energy practices, ecological collapse will dismantle our modern civilization, and drastically prune the human kudzu.
