About climate change:
Given that the world's climatologists have just published a careful, sober report showing global warming is real and worrying,
No, they haven't. They've published the summary for policymakers. The ful report is still a couple of months away, currently being rewritten to make sure it accords with that summary.

Tim, well said.
Could you help draw attention to the following telly program :
THURSDAY 08 MARCH
Documentary
The Great Global Warming Swindle
9:00pm - 10:35pm
Channel 4
Provocative documentary that sets out to challenge the widely accepted view that man-made carbon dioxide emissions are responsible for global warming. With arguments from leading scientists, the film points to recent research that solar radiation may be a more plausible factor in climate change, and suggests that reducing carbon emissions may not only have little impact on the environment, but may also have unintentional repercussions for third world development.
For the avoidance of doubt, I have no connection to the makers of this prgram. I'd just really like to see enough people watching it that the BBC can't continue to ignore it.

Thankyou! I was reading the articles about this wonderful report at the time the summary was published, and getting increasingly angry.
All the confusion surrounding climate change is perhaps the reason we have not got to the core of the issue, and found out what is really going on - and what we can do about it!
Bad scientific reporting makes my blood boil.

If you want a real conspiracy theory, consider that "big oil" is actually running out of oil and is mainly loking for an would rather we used natural gas (Beyond petroleum anyone?) It is they who have been pushing the whole "renewables" stuff and last year the big oil companies made more profit from the marginal 10% of ethanol added for environmental reasons than they did from the rest of the gallon. Politicians have found a cause to feel useful and virtuous whilst simultaneously controlling and taxing us and the agricultural lobby (never small) has never had it so good. Same players, different stitch up.
