Timmy Elsewhere.

Two pieces up at TCS today. One gently taking the mick out of TEBAF Margot and the other, well, I think you can guess what happened today to generate another article.

I really do wish I could write better, better when I write quickly. There were ideas in the post below which were half-formed, which I still didn’t quite manage to get laid out as I wanted when I wrote it up more formally. It’s more difficult than it looks, obviously.

Tim:

I wouldn't take a libel case alleging subtle was actionable on a contingency arrangement.

And, silver lining-wise, I would expect the reaction of the stoic Britons to shame Spain even more than Spain shamed itself.

A word of caution on posting on the fragrent ones site. I did and was stupid enough to supply an email address.
Technical point here - I have several domain names I use for mail forwarding. As they're catchall accounts I make up a someone @ to suit the post knowing that any reply will be forwarded.
Since the Wallstrom post that particular mail account has received several hundred spurious emails, each one with a virus attached as a .zip. I know it has come about because of the post as it was a unique use of that account name. Strangely enough they all seem to originate at an IP registered to idea.int an EU funded NGO based in Stockholm. I'm currently in correspondence with the IT manager there trying to get the problem resolved.

Please dont' fret about your writing. The piece on the bombings is unpolished, but spot on. The form suits the occasion - we're all reacting on the fly to fragmentary information. It's the spirit that counts.

don't be too hard on the Spanish..there is a reasonable case to be made that they voted out a governmnet that was trying to turn the human tragedy into a political cause by insisting it was ETA.

Mark:

Possibly such a case could be made, but side by side with it the case makes itself that the Spanish handed barbarism a victory even so.
