Terminally Clueless.
You remember those regional assemblies that John Prescott said we needed? You know, an increase in democracy, allowing government to be closer to the people?
Mr Prescott believes that his proposals are needed because the regional
assemblies for the South East and the Eastern region keep voting down
the number of houses his department says are needed.
So as soon as these new democratic bodies, which he set up, refuse to do his bidding, he changes the rules.
Our googlebomb seems to have dropped off the charts at present but perhaps this will help.

The best way to protect the environment would be to let the population fall, by not subsidising immigration and child production.
Of course this would cause the state ponzi pension scheme to go bust even earlier...

The assemblies aren't actually elected, so it's more a case of a semi-elected politician overruling a total quango.
(and Rob, immigration isn't subsidised - not sure where on earth you picked up that idea...)

John B,
I wonder why Tower Hamlets prints those swahili "Claim to the Max!" posters then?
