Wind Power Too Expensive?
A report mentioned in the Guardian says that wind power is the most expensive method of producing no carbon energy. OK, not much of a surprise in that, those like me who are funded by Exxon Mobil have had the talking points for years. What really amused me was this:
Jim Footner of Greenpeace said the German study would inevitably be used by opponents of wind power as an argument against further investment. But he remained confident that wind power was the best option for Britain's energy needs.
"You can't energy-efficiency your way out of climate change," he said. "You need to have clean forms of energy generation, and wind power is the technology that's competitive, current and it's the one that's available now."
A slightly odd statement don’t you think? Especially as we get 23% of our current electricity from the source that he dare not name....nuclear.

Obviously this guy uses different meanings for the words competitive, current, and available than the rest of us.

at this present time wind energy is more expensive to produce than conventional energy sources and therefore is more expensive to purchase and use.

In the early 80's I was a volunteer amongst other volunteers working on the Rainbow Warrior putting on finishing touches to the ship for the Pacific Campaign. I was privy to many a night around the ship's table discussing various aspects of the Green Peace philosophy. They are great people but fall into that category so many humans do of "we know what's best". I must say www.greenspirit.com is a much saner course if you want my opinion. We have wind farms here in Southern California...absolutely ugly....yeah nukes
