Ted Rall and That Cartoon
Michele is all over Ted Rall and his " cartoon " about Pat Tillman. Rightly so, it's worth looking through all the related and linked posts.
One little thing that's always got me about the idiotarian criticism of the Afghanistan War ( where my brother arrives next week as one of Kos' " mercenaries ". BTW, it would be interesting to hear Kos' take on the French Foreign Legion, a very tough unit that is, in theory, unable to accept French citizens as recruits. ) is that it was all about an oil pipeline route. It takes a certain level of numbskullness to think that one would go to war to get oil from the Caspian to the Gulf when one was already building a pipeline to the Mediterranean, or that one would go over the Hindu Kush to get to the Gulf anyway, but then geography has never been a left wing strongpoint : it's all one world, right ? What raises it to lunacy is that Unocal wanted to build a gas pipline, not oil. Sure, they're both hydrocarbons, but if you're going to accuse the President of treason, you might at least try and get the details straight. Or does " It's all for Gas " not sound right ? More like a Rolaids ad ?
