Biofeedback

Biofeedback is one of those ideas that gets an awful lot  of heat from people yet is actually based on simple and good science. It’s when people take it too far that it gets strange.

The basic idea is that the body puts out signals which, if we read them correctly, can tell us something about what is going on. We can then try to alter our behaviour to stop whatever it is. At the most basic level, think of sneezing. This means that we’ve either got a cold or an allergy. We can then investigate to see which and thus either avoid the thing we are allergic to or take to the couch with some aspirin and orange juice.

Another would be our reactions to stress: we all know that our palms get sweaty when we are under stress, for example. Which is where biofeedback related equipment comes in. It can help you to work out how much stress you are suffering from and thus give you an indication of what you might want to change in order to reduce it.

Worth noting that these particular criminals are also stupid. They can’t count. $1,000,000.00 is one million, not one hundred million.
